I grew up in the shadow of Ford World Headquarters.

It’s in my blood. Half my neighborhood worked at Ford. I remember when Goodyear put raised white letters on their tires like it was yesterday. During college, I spent summers working at the Wayne Assembly Plant, where the Ford Granada was built. My first car was a ’76 Plymouth Duster with vinyl top and plaid interior.

For the last 30 years at the wheel at Perich Advertising + Design, I’ve been immersed in automotive branding and marketing. B2B. Consumer. Commercial. Heavy-duty, off-highway, military, OEM, Tier One and Tier Two. For GM, Chevy, GMC, AxleTech, Continental Automotive, Meritor, Nexteer, Eagle Ottawa, smart car, Saturn and others.

There’s never been a better time to be in Michigan, working in automotive. Technologically, the automotive industry is reinventing itself, and it’s happening at an unprecedented pace. The need for crisp, clear, powerful branding and communication isn’t a question for everybody in this category. It’s a race.
